Sailaway Clyde Flotilla Charter

This is a great option, whether as an alternative to a skippered charter for those who perhaps have less sailing experience; and/or for those who may simply prefer to cruise in company with other yachts...

Whether you’d like:

•    to cruise in company with yachts whose skippers have great local knowledge of our fantastic unspoilt west coast sailing areas and harbours
•    or just the chance to socialise during your charter with other like-minded sailors

…. our unique Sailaway flotilla charter could be the ideal charter option for you!

Unique, because we think that Sailaway may be the only yacht charter company offering flotilla sailing on the west coast of Scotland....

Offered in collaboration with ScotSail, one of Scotland’s premier RYA sailing schools, our Clyde flotillas will be available practically every week of the 2013 sailing season, for periods of 2 and 5 days. ScotSail run Day Skipper and other courses commencing at Largs Yacht Haven each Friday and Sunday evening, typically with 2 or 3 of their yachts heading out from Largs, bright and early each Saturday and Monday morning.

Sailaway charter clients who’ve booked for our flotilla – whether for part or all of their charter holiday – will cruise in informal company with these ScotSail yachts. You will meet the lead ScotSail skipper and other skippers at the start of your flotilla period and have the opportunity to talk through details of your cruise, meeting again in each new harbour. You will also, in addition to the support already accessible from Sailaway throughout your charter, have access to regular mobile phone and/or vhf radio contact with the ScotSail skipper, should you need his or her advice during the flotilla.

The boats will generally aim to meet up at the end of the day, each having sailed at their own chosen time and pace. The crews of the Sailaway and ScotSail yachts will then - if they choose to - be able to socialise with each other ashore, whether for a drink, a chat or maybe dinner in a local pub or restaurant.

There is an additional charge to participate in a Sailaway flotilla - for a 5 day flotilla, this is £200 per yacht; for a 2 day flotilla, £100 per yacht.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Sailaway flotilla charters aren’t much like a typical Med flotilla. We won’t offer you breakfast briefings on a sunny Greek beach - and we won’t provide a sun-bronzed charter host or hostess either. This is though a great way to experience Scottish west coast cruising, especially for those who may not have sailed here before. Cruising in company with other yachts can bring an extra element of reassurance and fun to a sailing holiday, alongside the chance to develop sailing skills and confidence.

You may choose to arrange your holiday so that your Sailaway charter - whether or not involving a flotilla - runs before or following a ScotSail course. Or you may opt to join a Sailaway flotilla for just the first part of your holiday – it’s up to you!

We’re open to other suggestions from customers looking to hire one of our yachts from Largs, so if for example you’d like to combine a Sailaway flotilla with a skippered charter, or have any other ideas – please do contact us.
